Animal Portrait Commissions
I create bespoke, hand-drawn animal portraits in fine line ink, capturing not just likeness, but presence and character. Each drawing is intended to feel quietly powerful and enduring.
Most commissions are of dogs, though I also accept a limited number of wildlife and equine portraits each year. Each drawing is made slowly and carefully from reference photographs, with close attention to form, expression, and detail.
My approach is observational rather than decorative — I aim to create work that feels quiet, considered, and enduring.
The Process
Initial enquiry
You can get in touch via the contact form with a brief description of what you have in mind. At this stage, you’re welcome to ask questions or discuss suitability.Reference photographs
I’ll ask you to send several clear photographs. Natural light and relaxed poses work best — I’m happy to advise on this.Confirmation & deposit
Once we’ve agreed on size, composition and timescale, a deposit is taken to secure your place.Drawing
I work directly in ink, without preliminary sketches. Progress images are not usually provided, as this can interrupt the natural flow of the drawing.Completion & delivery
When finished, the remaining balance is due. The artwork is then carefully packaged and sent by tracked delivery.
Sizes & Pricing Guide
Each commission is priced individually. Prices vary depending on complexity, coat detail, pose and reference material.
Animal with plain background
1: A4 - 21 x 29.7 cm / 8.26 x 11.69 Inches = from £650
2: 30 x 30 cm / 11.81 x 11.81 Inches = from £1000
3: A3 - 29.7 x 42 cm / 11.69 x 16.53 Inches = from £1000
4: Larger sizes, multiple animals and portraits with backgrounds = Price on request
Prices reflect the time, complexity, and level of detail involved. Framing is not included.
I only take on a small number of commissions at a time to ensure each piece receives full attention.
A Note on Expectations
Because each drawing is made by hand and directly in ink, small variations are part of the process and the character of the work.
If you’re looking for a highly stylised or heavily retouched image, my work may not be the right fit — and that’s absolutely fine. I want commissions to feel like a good match for both of us.

Testimonials
“Hannah was very moved with your drawing and it is the eye catcher in her flat.”
Sven
“Just to say thank you very much indeed for the wonderful portrait of Badger. All the family has now had a good chance to admire, and we really think you captured his likeness wonderfully. Badger, unfortunately, doesn’t seem to show much interest, but the rest of the family is delighted. Thank you again so very much.”
Sandy Rattray
“Thank you for a perfect portrait, in memory of our much loved and missed Daisy.”
Matthew Chambers
